The best way to combat binge eating is to ensure you are eating enough nutrient-dense foods. By eating enough nutrient-rich foods, you can combat a lot of the binges and cravings. You can be mentally stronger to fight the food brain battles.⠀

🚫Removing sugars will also help with the glucose/insulin rollercoaster. All the lifestyle factors, including decreasing stress, improving sleep will help with hormonal function, which includes better satiety signaling from satiety hormones. (I’ve done a series on this and you can read all about satiety hormones).⠀

😣Sometimes bingeing will be cued from an environmental response. Sometimes it’s because of stress and our fight/flight tendency to use food as a coping mechanism.⠀

💡Figure out your triggers. Get to know your self.⠀

🐄The more you are properly fed, the easier it is for you to consciously “re-wire” the common pathways used in times of stress. The more times you don’t binge, the less frequent the bingeing will become. But you must properly nourish your body.⠀

🔄Eating disorders, depression and anxiety are all part of the same vicious cycle. When you are combatting the decision to binge every day, the anxiety is high. When you cave to a binge, you almost feel a sense of relief. You don’t have to fight the mental battles anymore. But we trade anxiety with depression, shortly after. Another day consumed by the eating disorder. It’s a vicious cycle.⠀

🗣Share your story with those that deserve it. By isolating and shutting down, you will only allow the eating disorder to rage. You must bring light to the dark. You must bring vulnerability to shame. This is one of the ways to get out of a downward binge cycle. The last thing you want to do is go out or share your struggles with someone but it can be a sure-fire way to get out of a binge-anxiety-depression cycle.⠀

👥The power of community and love is one of the most beautiful gifts of being human. Take advantage of it. But only share with those that deserve it. Sharing just to share isn’t community or connection. Find those you trust.⠀
